Advanced EMT (AEMT) Implementation Initiative

In July 2010, the California EMS Authority revised Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations and authorized the certification of EMS providers at the Advanced EMT (AEMT) level. This additional EMT certification option is considered Limited Advanced Life Support (LALS), and its purpose is to bring high-value advanced emergency care to regions where paramedic-level care is unavailable, or to complement existing paramedic care.

The Coastal Valleys EMS Agency supports the addition of the LALS level of care to the areas served by our EMS providers, and is developing the policies and procedures needed to implement this new EMT certification option.
